Dental bonding is a restorative procedure for teeth that are chipped, cracked, discolored or misarranged. Often used as an alternative to dental veneers, the dental bonding procedure is typically completed in a single office visit.

While not as strong as natural tooth enamel, dental bonding typically will last three to five years before needing repairs.

Literally creating a “bridge” in the gap where one or more teeth used to be, dental bridges replace missing teeth with artificial teeth and help restore your smile. Dental bridges may be “fixed” (bonded in place), or “removable.” Fixed dental bridges are more stable, but can only be removed by a dental professional.

When teeth are missing, a dental bridge is highly recommended as its presence can decrease the risk of gum disease and prevent abnormal stress from being placed on the remaining teeth. Left unchecked, this stress can cause a variety of harmful disorders, or cause the mouth to sink and prematurely age the face.

Often used when a tooth is severely damaged, or in the case of severe enamel erosion, porcelain crowns recreate the form and function of the tooth from the tip down to the gum line. Maintenance of dental crowns is simple, requiring only routine brushing and regular flossing like a natural tooth. However, porcelain crowns are not as flexible as natural teeth, so changes in eating habits may be necessary to protect the tooth.

A removable appliance that replaces missing teeth, dentures also provide support for the cheeks and lips, making it easier to speak and eat. Dentures can be made to fit over remaining natural teeth, if desired, after the dentist has prepared them, or they can be attached to dental implants for a more secure fit.

At Keystone Dental Arts, we believe that quality dentures take time, and utilize only the best quality materials and laboratory support to create each set. We do not make dentures overnight, or fabricate “bargain” dentures.

We would be happy to explain how the denture fabrication process works at Keystone Dental Arts, and welcome any questions you may have.

More Information

Dental fillings are prescribed when the internal part of the tooth (the dentin) has been damaged, usually due to tooth decay. The dentist removes this damaged dentin, and the empty space is “filled” by either an amalgam (or mixture) of different metals, or more commonly, a composite of resin and porcelain that mimics the look and feel of the natural tooth. Dental fillings are typically completed in one visit.

Dr. Roberts believes that the decision between amalgam and composite fillings should be left up to the patient. If you have questions regarding the advantages and disadvantages of amalgam or composite fillings, please contact one of our knowledgeable staff members and they will be happy to discuss it with you.

An excellent long-term option for missing teeth, dental implants involve placing a titanium post into the jaw, and then affixing an artificial tooth to the post. The process may take several months, depending on the situation, allowing the jaw to heal and the artificial tooth (or teeth) to be carefully crafted before placement. Most patients experience little, if any, disruption in their daily life during dental implant treatment.

Simply put, Invisalign® is “the invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces.”

Using a series of custom-fit, clear, removable aligners, Invisalign® gradually moves and straightens your teeth to a final position prescribed by the dentist. Total treatment time is typically between 9-15 months, with visits every 6 weeks to check progression.

Dental sealants are a simple procedure shown to be highly effective in preventing decay on the biting surfaces of teeth. Dental sealants are easy to apply and take only a few minutes per tooth. A plastic material is applied onto the tooth enamel, bonding to the tooth and hardening to create a barrier that “seals out” plaque, food, and acids. Beneficial for both children and adults, sealants can remain effective for several years before reapplication is needed.

Porcelain Veneers are a simple and versatile choice for restoring chipped, cracked, discolored or misarranged teeth. By carefully placing a thin shell of ceramic bond to the front surface of the affected tooth, veneers can enhance and brighten your smile for years to come.

In cosmetic dentistry, placing custom veneers requires a high degree of technical skill and attention to cosmetic detail. Dr. Roberts ensures that all veneers are crafted from the highest quality porcelain, and designs each individual case to match and enhance the patient’s unique smile.

Porcelain veneers are almost indistinguishable from natural teeth and are resistant to coffee, tea and even cigarette stains.

Teeth whitening is a quick and safe way to brighten your smile! Keystone Dental Arts can help you achieve professional whitening results from the comfort of your home with custom whitening kits, including custom-fit teeth whitening trays, that are far preferable to the unpredictable and often awkward fit of kits purchased over-the-counter.

Teeth whitening works on teeth at any age, and is a near-permanent solution for a dull smile.

We would love to meet with you and create a personalized dentistry plan.

I always appreciate the little things, especially the nice warm towel following a cleaning. Really appreciated. The staff is always great. It is a pleasure to see such professionalism. Thank you.
